The John James Cilliers Foundation is a non-profit organization formed in 2008 to promote the conservation of nature in the Chagres National Park rainforest. The foundation also supports local charities Panama. El Nido is a retreat, that is part of the foundation that offers accommodation to locals and foreigners interested in enjoying the natural beauty inside the rainforest and learning about the fauna and flora present.

We offer camping programs to schools foreign and local. In 2019 we will take a program to the schools through theatre and puppet shows intended to make children aware of the need to protect nature and our planet as a whole.


The Foundation and El Nido is located in Los Altos de Cerro Azul and is a part of the Chagres Park Nature reserve that is situated in a tropical paradise that is 3000 feet above sea level (1000 meters Situated 45 minutes from the Tocumen International airport in Los Altos De Cerro Azul.and 1 hour to Panama city and 40 minutes from various shopping centers.


Los Altos de Cerro Azul is situated inside the Chagres National Park.
